Now Streaming from Around the Globe

The last several months have been a particularly fun time at v2b, with a slew of new features showing up on the site, like our free iPad app, add-on DVDs, our brand-new video player, and of course, the launch of our subscription options last month. All the while we’ve also been working hard at improving your overall online experience.

Until now, our streaming server has been based in Germany. And while it’s a monster (but, you know, a good monster), we’ve noticed that some people outside of Europe have experienced hiccups in streaming video playback, especially with live-action courses where the movies can be particularly large.

Our options were clear: either we needed to fly all of our video2brain subscribers and customers to Europe (sweet!) or we needed to bring our videos to our customers (also sweet!).

After some internal debate, we went with option #2!

Yesterday morning we began streaming all of our videos from 19 high-speed servers around the globe. Wherever you are, our videos will now always be sent to your brain using the quickest and shortest route. And because our lessons are streamed rather than downloaded, you never have to wait for the whole lesson to load. Jump anywhere in the timeline on the player, and the movie will start playing at that spot.

The early reports have been great. If you’ve had any issues with our streaming video experience in the past, we think you’ll be really happy with the results. I live in often-sunny-though-not-today California, and while I haven’t had any streaming video troubles in the past, things are noticeably faster today than they were even two days ago.

And of course, we’re just getting started. Let us know what you think, and if you have any requests for future improvements and upgrades, leave a comment here, or write me directly.

Thanks and all the best!

Would this be using the Bitgravity service ?

  • Thomas Lauter

No, we are not using Bitgravity.
