Photoshop layer styles give you a quick and easy way to apply special effects to a layer in a nondestructive way. You can use one of the provided layer styles as is, or you can manipulate its settings to customize it to your heart’s content.

In this free video from his recently released course Getting Started with Photoshop CS6, renowned digital artist (and formidable new addition to the video2brain roster) Chad Perkins shows you how to apply a layer style to an image, then play around with it to get an effect you like.
